Our Whanganui Social Work department is a dynamic and caring team that works as part of the clinical multi-disciplinary team (MDT), providing Social Work services to patients and their whānau/family of Te Whatu Ora. We are looking for an experienced social worker skilled in providing psycho-social (familial, support, mental and emotional) and community holistic social work interventions to high/complex needs patient and their whānau. You will create opportunities for patients and their family/whānau to be supported in addressing the complex issues surrounding life limiting illness, trauma, grief and loss, quality of life and complex social issues and medical needs.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced and compassionate social worker who is seeking a good work-life balance and is looking for a challenging and rewarding role.
This role will report to the Clinical Social Work Manager.

Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Registration with the NZ Social Worker's Board.
  • A minimum of 5 years' social work experience.
  • Have a good knowledge of our community and the resources within it.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong interest in and compassion for the lives and experiences of others.
  • Ability to remain calm in a crisis situation
  • Passionate and dynamic advocate for the social work profession
  • Commitment to the Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi and Whānau Ora principles.
