Lead Support Worker

Nurse Maude is seeking an experienced support worker who would like to take the next career step. The position of Lead Support Worker will allow you to utilise your skills in a role that provides mentoring, training, and support to your colleagues. This role would also see you providing relief cover and expert assistance and support to clients in the community.
Te Mahi/About the Position
Lead Support workers are essential to our team, support works and clients. This role is 30 hours per week, based predominantly in the Nelson Tasman area, will work collaboratively with the team and travel across the wider Nelson Marlborough region as required to support other colleagues and meet service requirements.
Key Aspects:
You will be working closely with your area team including Service Coordinator, Case Managers and Community Supervisor, and will:
  • provide care and support to clients and complete client reviews as delegated
  • provide guidance and mentoring support to o new and existing community support works, including smart phone training and trouble - shooting assistance
  • be fit, focused and friendly in your approach, and confident in your ability as an experienced support worker
  • ideally have at least two years' recent experience working in the community as a support worker, or similar
  • Strong communication skills - excellent written and spoken English and basic numeracy
  • demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to problem solve
  • work unsupervised
  • assist with workplace verification, and competency assessment for support workers
  • Support the community supervisor to complete annual appraisals of support workers, observing and providing feedback on client care
  • Complete office-based duties, such as follow up phone calls to clients, and support workers who require additional support, making notes I the relevant systems

To be successful in this role, you will:
  • A New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4), or similar
  • Have a current and valid New Zealand driver's licence and have your own reliable transport
  • Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
  • Be competent in the use of smart phone technology and computers

  • be a positive team member, working well with others at all levels
