Job Description
Our Kaitaki Wehenga Category Managers look after everything to do with the offering in our Z stores across Aotearoa ensuring that our ranges are up to date, appealing and meet the changing needs of our customers. We are excited to welcome a Kaitaki Wehenga Category Manager to our whānau to manage a key strategic growth category.
In this role you will hold end-to-end responsibility for delivering a range of products safely and successfully into our network. This is a true cross functional role that will see you work closely with our retailers, marketing team, suppliers, store development teams and more – your stakeholder management and communication skills will need to be on point to deliver relevant briefs, messaging and updates to a diverse group.
Calling on your Category Management skills you will love a deep dive into the data, reviewing the range quarterly, making range adjustments based on data and insights, identifying gaps and opportunities and keeping across promotions and pricing. As well as looking after products in your range you will also guide the sales channels, making recommendations and adjustments as needed.

This role can be based in either Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau or Wellington Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
You will have the opportunity to
  • Delivery of the assigned categories safely and successfully into the network through strong supplier and distributor relationships, cross functional engagement, product ranging and promotional activity
  • To deliver on sales and margin targets and maximise category profitability
  • Develop strategies in conjunction with the Head of Category Management focusing on core segments ensuring key insights are identified and utilised
  • Work with data and insights via accessing channel/consumer/shopper insights, research and market data and make recommendations based on these
  • Develop category plans and that meet sales and margin targets and deliver on these on time and in budget
  • Conduct regular range reviews and make adjustments and recommendations from data and insights
  • Work with a range of internal and external stakeholders and make a real impact in the future growth strategy at Z!
Qualifications
What you’ll bring to Z
  • Experience as a Category Manager, knowledge of the grocery, QSR or the fuel industry is advantageous
  • The ability to manage complex product categories, multiple profit and loss areas within these categories and to customize these to your clients
  • Expertise in building relationships with internal and external contacts, forming partnerships that support business success and using cross-functional knowledge to add value
  • Demonstrated experience in analysing and interpreting data from a range of sources to generate insights and drive Category performance
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen in a fast-paced industry, identifying and delivering on growth opportunities

The base salary range for this role is $129,200 to $152,000 per annum, plus 15% STI based on company performance, a 5% Kiwi Saver employer contribution and health insurance through Southern Cross.
