Mō tēnei mahi (About this job)

We are looking for a Kaiako to deliver our Kāwai Raupapa – Certificate in Māori & Indigenous Arts programme, with a focus on Performing Arts. This is a fixed-term, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position starting in January 2025 and ending in December 2025.
Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, delivering engaging content to tauira, addressing tauira learning needs, and assessing their progress. Flexibility may be required for some weekend and evening sessions.

Mōu (About you)

To succeed in this role, you will have sound knowledge and teaching experience within Toi Māori Rauangi field to deliver our Kāwai Raupapa programme. You will need to have the ability to facilitate application of principle and theory into contextualised practice, apply tikanga Māori appropriate to toi Māori - Rauangi, and be a critical, conceptual and self-reflective practitioner.
You will bring with you:
  • Te Maunga Kura Toi (Bachelor of Māori Art – Level 7) with a focus on appropriate Kaupapa Toi (Whakairo, Ngā Mahi ā te Whare Pora, Toi Ataata, Mau Rākau, Performing Arts), or equivalent, that demonstrates holding or showing equivalence for NZQA standards assessed in this programme
  • New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent
  • Either attest equivalence for NZQA standards required to assess and moderate this programme OR hold the NZ Certificate in Assessment Practice (L4)
  • Full and current NZ Driver License
  • 2+ years’ experience teaching adult learners.
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
