THE OPPORTUNITY: We’re seeking a motivated Junior Data Engineer to join our Auckland based digital team. In this role, you'll work closely with our Senior Data Engineer to enhance and manage our data pipeline architecture and data warehouse. You'll play a key part in ensuring data governance, security, and privacy compliance while collaborating with stakeholders and developers to streamline data processes. HOW YOU'LL DO IT: Data Pipelines:
Support the Senior Data Engineer in optimizing and improving data pipeline architecture, ETL/ELT tools, and integrations.
Adhere to established procedures for creating, troubleshooting, monitoring, and documenting pipelines.
Work with stakeholders and developers to ensure effective data ingestion and extraction processes.
Data Warehouse:
Assist in managing the data warehouse, ensuring that data access is accurate, and systems are well-integrated.
Help in maintaining and assembling complex data sets that meet business requirements.
Recommend and implement improvements for data reliability, efficiency, and quality.
Define and document data retention and disaster recovery policies.
Data Governance, Security, and Privacy Compliance:
Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy standards and relevant legislation.
Engage with stakeholders before adopting new technologies or processes to ensure alignment and compliance.
ABOUT YOU:
Minimum of 1 year in a Data Engineer role or a similar position.
Solid experience with ETL tools, preferably Airflow or Ni Fi.
Familiarity with Public Cloud platforms, such as GCP or AWS.
Knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling concepts.
Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, My SQL, Power Shell, and Bash.
Experience with version control using Git.
Comfortable operating in a Linux OS environment.
