At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 108 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.

More than 6,000 children now attend one of Whānau Manaaki’s 108 kindergartens and around 150 children are enrolled with our Pasifika-focused Etu Ao homebased service.
Community Description
Children who attend Johnsonville West kindergarten are drawn mainly from the Johnsonville Community. The kindergarten is situated next to, and has a close working relationship, with West Park school. The area is well serviced by community facilities including a large shopping centre, library and swimming pool, parks, churches, childcare centres and sports clubs.
The kindergarten has a strong focus on inclusive practice, with a team committed to supporting children’s social competence.
This kindergarten is licensed for 5 x 6-hour sessions each week, with 40 children in each session

We are looking for an enthusiastic ECE kaiako who will:
- Support the kindergarten team in designing and implementing culturally responsive approaches that reflect the local community and our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Work responsively and inclusively, in ways that ensure that tamariki are at the heart of decisions, and where the diversity and uniqueness of each tamariki is valued and celebrated.
- Demonstrate a commitment to a collaborative working style, focused on ongoing growth to support positive outcomes for tamariki
- Be a strategic thinker, who is adaptable and responsive to the changing needs of tamariki and community.
- Provide an environment that physically, emotionally and pedagogically supports tamariki to engage, explore and have agency of their learning"
