A little bit about the role…
The Equipment Designer will work within the design team and with the Head of Design to create brand relevant, market right, sustainable equipment for Kathmandu. This will involve creating product designs that are consumer centric and fit for the outdoor, local and global market. The role is Full Time and day to day responsibilities include;
Designing products and ranges that are developed in harmony with Kathmandu’s direction and brand vision; reflecting the needs of Kathmandu’s core customer groups utilising market research, concepts, prototypes, consumer insights and field testing.
Applying your sound knowledge in the design of soft goods (primarily packs and bags, or travel product). Including fabric types, sustainability criteria, relevant construction techniques, and production processes.
Translating ideas into 3D illustrations. Accurately articulate design intent and product form through 2D drawings.
Understanding of current market trends, new technologies, and design innovations.
Creating Tech-packs to communicate technical product information
What we are looking for…
Design degree in industrial design, product design or the equivalent.
Experience in designing Outdoor Equipment, and/ or Travel goods to become part of a growing area of the Product team and brand.
Excellence in Adobe Illustrator
Proficient in Solidworks
Proficient in Microsoft Office products
Familiar with PLM systems
Excellent analytical skills
Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
