About the Job Log scaling is an NZQA accredited job, where a structured training programme can gain you a recognised qualification. You don't need previous experience in this type of role either as training is provided. The Checkpoint is a facility where logging trucks come to have their logs measured and ticketed ready for export. The Log Scaler manually “scales” or measures each log using an international standard, then barcodes the log and scans it into our system so that every single log can be tracked wherever it is. The Checkpoint is a team environment where the safety of our staff is paramount. Hours are varied with the Checkpoint normally operating Monday to Friday 04.00am to 10pm, however hours can vary. Occasional weekend work will also be required dependent on customer volumes. Flexibility is required with the hours you work as shifts could be in the morning or afternoon and can be up to 12 hours in length. About you You will be the kind of person who likes to be accurate when taking measurements, with good attention to detail. You will also enjoy communicating with truck drivers and members of your team. This is an active outdoor role that requires you to meet deadlines and also be ok on your feet for most of your shift. You will also be confident operating scanning equipment and preferably hold a full class 1 licence.
