Bluebridge carry passengers, cargo, and vehicles between Wellington and Picton up to four times daily. We have been crossing the Cook Strait since 2002 and continue to make a big mark in the transport and tourism industry! We have two ships the Strait Feronia and Strait Connemara which carry both passengers and freight 365 days a year.
What is the role?
We have permanent positions for a capable Engine Watch Rating Trainee to join our engineering team.
These are live on-board rostered positions, working two weeks on and two weeks off.
At Bluebridge we put the safety of our passengers and crew at the forefront of our operations, therefore, you will be contributing to our strong safety culture aboard our iconic ferries. Reporting to the Chief Engineer you will contribute to the following duties:
- Assist with monitoring and controlling engine room watch
- Operational duties as directed by Engineer Officers
- Ship maintenance and repair, including cleaning, painting and passenger areas.
- Be part of the emergency response team
What are we looking for?
We are looking for people with a positive outlook, strong work ethics and a great attitude. You need to demonstrate good verbal communication skills and a commitment towards health and safety. To be considered you need:
- STCW 95 certificates
- An unrestricted MNZ Seafarer Medical Certificate
- Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand
- A MEC Class 5 or 6 with sea going experience would be advantageous.
