About The opportunity | Ko te āheinga:
Join the Hawke's Bay Regional Council as a Consents Planner, where you'll play a crucial role in processing resource consent applications under the Resource Management Act (RMA). This position is part of the Policy & Regulation Group, specifically within the Consents section. You will report to the Team Leader Consents and work collaboratively to deliver sustainable environmental management solutions in the Hawke's Bay Region. Your responsibilities will include providing guidance and advice to the public on resource consenting matters, assessing applications, and ensuring efficient processing within statutory time frames.

We are looking for a candidate with a tertiary qualification in resource management, environmental science, or a related discipline. We are keen to hear from you if you have just completed or are about to complete studying in these areas and are keen to learn
It’d be great if you already have an understanding of the RMA and the resource consent process, but we appreciate that you might not have this yet if you have recently graduated. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to prepare clear, concise reports for a range of audiences. You should be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, with an ability to learn and adapt to different programmes. You will need to be able to manage your time effectively and should be able to demonstrate or to develop an understanding of Māori values and how these are considered through the resource management process. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, possess excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to think critically.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain familiarity with the RMA and relevant policies.
  • Provide accurate advice to stakeholders, including applicants and the public.
  • Ensure timely processing of applications.
  • Assist with database management and consent related administration as required.
  • Participate in project teams and continuous improvement initiatives.

What we offer | Nga huanga mōu:
The salary range for this role is between $76,230 to $84,700 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
