Clinical Nurse Specialist - Emergency Department


Dunedin Hospital
Salary Band – $116,000 - $127,000 p.a prorata + Kiwisaver

  • 0.875 FTE / 35 hours per week

Our Emergency Department’s (ED) vision is to be a centre of clinical care and customer service excellence. We have a strong focus on customer service and its success is reliant on effective communication and teamwork. ED includes a triage area, a rapid assessment area, dedicated resuscitation areas, acute, sub-acute and paediatric cubicles along with ambulatory care spaces. It carries out all acute cares for adults and paediatrics including full patient resuscitation facilities, management of trauma, fractures, injuries and so much more.

Mō te tūranga | About the role
  • Provide specialist emergency nursing care and expertise both in direct care delivery,
  • Mentor staff so they too gain further knowledge and skill,
  • Collaborate across the organisation,
  • Acting in the roles of clinician, educator, consultant, researcher, leader/change agent and care coordinator/case manager,


Mōu ake | About you
  • Current NZ nursing council registration
  • Proven practice and advanced knowledge in emergency nursing,
  • Either hold or be working towards post graduate qualification at a minimum of a diploma or/and a master’s degree.
  • Advanced communication techniques such as conflict resolution, diffusion and mediation skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills,

Utu whānui |Salary range
This role belongs to the NZNO Collective Agreement and falls between the step 1 ($116,040 p.a) and Step 7 ($127,674 p.a prorata) of the DSN scale
