B4 School Nurse

At 4 years old, tamariki are in a unique and critical stage of life, these cheeky, precocious and clever little souls provide our B4 School Nurses with endless joy, entertainment and wonder. We have a permanent role working predominately in West Auckland. Ideally, we're seeking a full time nurse, however for the right person, we will negotiate an arrangement that suits us both. Let us know your preference for days and locations in your cover letter.
In our team, we hold firm to the philosophy that our people are our biggest asset and so you will always be nurtured and cared for like the treasure you are!
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We have the privilege of spending our days conducting health and development checks in a variety of settings including homes, clinics, ECE centres, kōhanga, and other community hubs. If you are passionate about holistic health, this is a great opportunity for you to engage with tamariki and their whānau.
Put simply, our aim is for all tamariki to be able to thrive when they get in the school classroom. To do this, we assess the child's overall development including their hearing, speech, as well as mental and social health. If needed, we make referrals for those who might need some extra assessment for further support.
Working alongside our B4 school administration team who manage bookings and rescheduling, you'll be able to concentrate on meeting with tamariki and their whānau. We go where our community need us, and in an area with pockets of high deprivation, much of our mahi involves home-visiting. You'll use our Plunket vehicles to travel to see whānau in their homes. Travel is included so you're paid from the moment you're out in your Plunket car.
Pay rates for our Registered Nurses are between $62,911-$90,099 depending on experience
He kōrero mōu | About you
We will support you to become a specialist in 4-year-old development and expand your assessment skills. Our onboarding and preceptorship is often commended by our new starters, as an experienced team are able to support nurses who may be newly graduated or may be returning to practice.
You'll just need to bring the energy, care and emotional intelligence needed for engaging with tamariki at this stage of life.
The uniqueness of the whānau/aiga/fanau that we connect with is what makes our role interesting, you will be flexible in your approach, but always with a listening ear, manākitanga, ngākau and the ability to provide culturally safe care.
To be successful in this role you will:
  • Be a registered nurse
  • Hold Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Hold the right to work in Aotearoa
  • Hold a full clean NZ Drivers Licence
