He angitūtanga | About the role
This role will assist the National Asset Strategy Manager and the wider organisation by offering expert guidance on the development and management of national asset strategies for DOC. Your role will be essential in ensuring our asset management practices are both effective and aligned with our strategic objectives

The position will be focused on:
  • developing fit for purpose asset strategies to ensure best practise policies, procedures and guidance is followed efficiently
  • developing investment plans and recommendations for asset investment across DOC asset portfolios aligned to DOC strategic outcomes and funding levels
  • developing strategic risk management plans to mitigate significant risks facing DOC assets
  • providing specialist asset management advice and support as a trusted business partner to improve Departmental asset management practice
  • collaborating, educating and partnering with internal stakeholders to support DOC's asset management plans
  • ensuring DOC operates as an honourable treaty partner.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
Our ideal candidate will have expertise in the strategic lifecycle management of assets and be adept at documenting asset management plans. You will have a demonstrated ability to influence decision-makers and drive the implementation of best practices in asset management.
We are keen to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:

  • A strong understanding and experience in developing and implementing asset management strategies.
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field is desired. Further qualifications in Asset Management would be advantageous.
  • Tech savvy, you will ideally have had experience using a computerised management maintenance system in support of asset lifecycle management (SAP/EAM or similar).
  • A strong collaborator, you're able to build trust and influence stakeholders, taking on others opinions whilst remaining on track.
  • Commercial nous with the ability to apply financial and accounting principles in relation to asset management best practice.
  • An understanding of conservation and how it relates to asset management.
  • Current full New Zealand driver licence.
  • Understands the impact DOC and the wider public sector/government has on the Māori-Crown relationship.

The salary range for this position is $95,706 - $128,271 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
