Aquaculture is our fastest growing division, that splits operations across multiple sites; farm and factory in the Coromandel, a processing factory in Auckland and oyster farms across Northland, with the primary hub in Whangaroa. Our centre of innovation, including nursery and hatchery operations are based in Nelson. Moana is ambitious and is continuing to invest in the growth of our aquaculture business. In late 2019 we launched the Tio (Oyster)Transformational Project. This project embraces innovation, precision farming and is integral to our journey to deliver a profitable business, which generates pride and trust in our people and Iwi shareholders. He aha tāu e mahi ana | What You’ll Be doing: Reporting through to the Farm & Special Projects Manager this role will be accountable for overseeing and developing the farm and shore team on a day-to-day basis. As part of the Tio (oyster) farm leadership team, you will have the chance to influence and contribute to the broader farm and shore strategy, work cross functionally with other Farm Managers/Supervisors to drive the performance and profitability across our full farm footprint, getting involved in wider oyster initiatives. You’ll need the operational, technical and leadership horsepower to step into this role and helping to develop a team, establish credibility as a supervisor, mentor, and oyster farming professional. There is complexity and breadth to this role, along with challenges, and ambitious milestones. to be met. Key Responsibilities:
Actively contribute and support the development of a sustainable and cost-effective farming operation, with the highest standards of quality, health & safety, and biosecurity.
Day to day direction, and allocation of tasks and activities to team
Assist the maintenance of both the Pacific Oyster brood stock and experimental oyster lots of the selective breeding program.
Establish and grow flip farm capability, output, and quality on our Coromandel farms
Support the training, onboarding and induction of new and existing farm workers aligned to SOPS, code of conduct and Moana’s farm standards
Support and encourage a positive team culture, contributing to the development and execution of employee engagement initiatives
Clear, honest and proactive communication with managers, supervisors and colleagues
You will thrive in this developing leadership role, where you will have a high degree of responsibility, and play an important part in the growth of farm operations. You will have the opportunity to combine your sound oyster farm knowledge and capability, with your flair for creating great employee experiences and developing high performing teams. No day is the same at Moana and in farming, so be prepared to be on the go, juggle multiple priorities and collaborate with a variety of people. As a doer, no job will be too small or big and you will be comfortable working with ambiguity, and nimble to last minute changes and redirection. Alternatively, you may be an Oyster Farm Manager looking to step into a role where you can fast track your career and be a key part of succession planning and future proofing our operations. Ky Requirements:
Excellent oyster farming knowledge and experience
Skippers Licence
Capable of working under pressure to meet key deadlines
Confident, with effortless way of leading, connecting, and working with people ( all levels of experience)
Sound Microsoft Office skills
A strong work ethic, and a “can do”, “no fuss” attitude
Fresh ideas and efficient ways of working
