The Advisor Science position sits within the Medsafe group which is responsible for administering most aspects of the Medicines Act 1981 and its associated regulations in New Zealand including: approval of new and changed medicines and related products. audit and licensing of medicine manufacturers. It sits within our Regulation and Monitoring directorate which ensures the delivery of high quality, safe services that meet government expectations.
Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
The Advisor Science will provide technical secretariat support for the Medicines Classification Committee and the Medicines Assessment Advisory Committee.
In addition, the Advisor Science will provide advice on the classification of medicines and some medicine evaluation work including but not limited to the evaluation of the safety quality and efficacy of new or changed medicines.

Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience
Experience, or interest in working in a regulatory environment
Proven organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities, and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentiality
Previous experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice
Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences and foster good stakeholder relationships
