Activities Coordinator - St Kilda

We have an exciting Activities Coordinator opportunity at our St Kilda Care Home where you will lead a team of four passionate Activity Assistants. Whether you’re currently an Activities Assistant with leadership experience or an established Activities Coordinator ready for a new challenge, this could be the perfect next step for your career.
We’re looking for someone with a Diversional Therapist Qualification and has at least 2 years of experience leading a team. While this role is naturally suited for someone with coordination experience, it’s also an excellent step up for an Activities Assistant who has held leadership roles in the past and is ready to take the next big step in their career. Your confidence in your leadership abilities, coupled with your fresh ideas, will be invaluable as you guide and inspire your team.
This is a full-time, permanent role from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, giving you a stable and rewarding work schedule.
If you’re eager to bring your vision to life, lead a dynamic team, and take on a role where your ideas will be valued, I’d love to discuss this opportunity with you further.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage activity plans for residents across rest home and hospital levels of care.
  • Plan, develop, and lead individualised activity plans for each resident based on the activity assessment outcome, their interests, and preferences.
  • Ensure our valuable residents are treated with full respect, dignity, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to Bupa Health & Safety policies
  • Maintain personal and professional development - we have on-site managers who always encourage our staff to up-skill!
Skills and Qualification
To be successful in this role, you will enjoy a variety of work and have prior experience in this field, along with an interest in and understanding of the elderly and their needs. In this role, you will have a big impact on the quality of life for our residents.
  • You’ll have a NZQA (or equivalent) Diversional Therapy (level 4) Certificate (or working towards a DT qualification)
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar healthcare setting is preferable.
  • Be able to demonstrate leadership skills with the ability to motivate others.
  • Have a creative flair to contribute towards a full and varied activities programme and help look after our residents while creating a caring atmosphere.
  • You are a caring, team player, vibrant, and energetic, with an active interest in organising activities for multiple levels of function and ability.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Reasons to belong
  • Fully subsidised Southern Cross health insurance to our eligible permanent NZ employees and a discount on insurance cover for eligible family members.
  • Wellbeing discounts and advice, EAP counselling services, study support, and cultural leave.
  • Paid parental leave - in addition to standard parental leave, Bupa offers 12 weeks of paid leave for primary carers and 2 weeks for secondary carers.
  • Refer-a-friend programme of $750 - $2,000.
  • Professional Development – in-house and external training and development.
  • Industry-competitive remuneration and benefits, and internal reward and recognition programmes.
  • No matter who you are or where you come from, we encourage you to ‘Be You at Bupa’.

To express your interest, please submit an online application with your CV and we’ll reach out to chat about how you can progress your career with Bupa.
