Quality Engineer - SMT Manufacturing
Position Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of products and processes in the manufacturing environment, with additional responsibilities for incoming materials and shipping inspections. This role involves developing work instructions and procedures, supporting audits, analyzing and solving issues at every stage of the production process, and working to continuously improve productivity and quality.

Responsibilities

Apply and enforce quality standards to the product, manufacturing processes, incoming materials, and shipping inspections.
Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet quality specifications before they are used in production.
Conduct final inspections of products before shipping to ensure compliance with customer requirements and quality standards.
Create and maintain work instructions and process documentation.
Conduct product inspections throughout the production process and report any defects or process issues.
Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
Collaborate with the production team to resolve product, process, and material quality issues.
Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and verification processes to address defects and prevent recurrence.
Support the introduction and implementation of engineering change orders (ECOs).
Maintain calibration systems for measurement and test equipment.
Monitor and ensure compliance with 5S, Poka Yoke, and FIFO methodologies on the production floor.
Operate and oversee equipment such as Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machines and BGA rework stations.
Generate reports and analyze production, incoming, and shipping data to improve quality and efficiency.
Work with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) to manage quality processes, documentation, and inventory control for incoming and outgoing materials.

Experience & Skills Required

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronic, or related field) or technical career with at least 2 years of experience in manufacturing quality control.
Experience in creating and maintaining work instructions, procedures, and quality documentation.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and the ability to support and lead audit activities.
Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
Experience with SMT manufacturing processes and equipment is a plus.
Experience in incoming material inspection and shipping quality control.
Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Ability to generate and validate reports, visual aids, and reference documentation.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
Speak English is preferred.
Ability to travel to the USA if needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity or certification in IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and ESD standards.
Knowledge of process improvement tools such as PFMEA and Process Flow.
Experience with Poka Yoke, FIFO, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
