QC Inspector/Scrap Inspector in Steel Melting Plant
We are looking for a talented and skilled QC Inspector/Scrap Inspector in Steel Melting Plant to join our multicultural and diverse team in Kuwait. You will be responsible for inspecting and classify incoming scrap materials. Assists Lime Plant QC Laboratory Technician in conducting loss of ignition, density test and particle size testing of all incoming additive materials and ferroalloys. Duties and Responsibilities
Follow the rules and procedures for the activities of the Quality Control to ensure strict adherence to quality standards.
Inspects & classify the scrap materials as they come to the inhouse scrap yard or outside the plant, in the premises of the suppliers, whenever necessary.
Collection of raw material sample and perform density test or other physical testing as per standard specification and/or customer requirement.
Generate reports for scrap (local and imported) classification and quality, and raw materials’ quality.
Verification of actual scrap classification versus Purchase Order of the supplier.
Closely monitors off-specs and potentially hazardous materials from the scrap received.
Constantly coordinates with Scrap Dispatcher and/or Scrap Weigh Bridge Operator regarding delivery weights and P.O. information.
Informs and coordinate with Scrap Coordinator of Commercial pertaining to violations of quality and size requirements for scrap deliveries.
Coordinates with other operating units whenever necessary to facilitate resolution of issues.
Ensures compliance to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
Job Qualification:
At least graduate of a 3-year Technical Course in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Industrial Technology or its equivalent.
At least 3 years’ work experience in inspection, testing and use of analytical instruments. Preferably with experience in dispatching.
Skilled in ferrous scrap assessment in accordance with ISRI guidelines and relevant specifications.
Highly competent in visual inspection for metal scrap cleanliness, condition and appearance or any visible issues.
Adept in estimation and evaluation for variants, quantity, and quality of metal scraps.
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and database systems (SAP).
Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Able to work in shifting schedule.
Able to handle workload in a dusty and hot environment.
