We are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager of Strategic Sourcing with a strong background in Steel Manufacturing and Scrap Metal sourcing to join our dynamic team in Kuwait. The Deputy Manager will manage and optimise the procurement and sourcing of raw materials for the organisation. This role involves collaborating with various departments, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and support the organisation's objectives. Duties may include but will not be limited to:
Identifying, evaluating, and onboarding new suppliers for raw materials, ensuring they meet quality, sustainability, and regulatory standards.
Fostering strong relationships with existing suppliers to enhance collaboration, negotiate favourable terms, and resolve any issues that may arise.
Developing and executing a comprehensive raw material sourcing strategy that aligns with the organization's cost-effectiveness, quality, and sustainability goals.
Analysing market trends, pricing, and supply-demand dynamics to make informed decisions and adjustments to the sourcing strategy.
Negotiating pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favourable conditions.
Implement cost-saving initiatives such as bulk purchasing, strategic sourcing, and alternative materials exploration to optimise procurement expenses.
Collaborating with Quality Control and Quality Assurance teams to establish and maintain strict quality standards for all procured raw materials.
Conducting regular audits and inspections of suppliers to ensure adherence to quality specifications and industry standards.
Identifying potential supply chain risks and developing mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure continuity of raw material supply.
Monitoring geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors that may impact the availability or cost of raw materials.
Collecting, analysing, and reporting data related to raw material sourcing, supplier performance, cost trends, and market insights to support informed decision-making.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, including Production, Logistics, Research & Development, and Finance, to ensure alignment of raw material procurement with operational requirements.
Staying updated on relevant industry regulations, standards, and compliance requirements related to raw material sourcing and procurement.
Ensuring that all sourcing activities adhere to legal and ethical standards.
Identifying opportunities for process improvement within the raw material procurement workflow and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Qualification and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in metallurgy.
5 to 7 years experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in the steel industry and scrap metal sourcing.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP
Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective supplier and stakeholder management.
Proficiency in using procurement software, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office suite.
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance aspects of raw material procurement.
Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and make strategic decisions accordingly.
