We are seeking an experienced and motivated engineer to join our team as an R&D Design/Mechanical Team Lead. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design and development efforts of our next-generation UAVs, overseeing mechanical R&D activities, and ensuring the successful integration of innovative solutions. About A-tech SYN A-tech SYN Ltd (Advanced Technologies with Synergy) is an all-in-one solution provider for Unmanned Aviation Systems (UAS) based in Shannon, Ireland. A-tech SYNs’ products consist of proprietary UAS solutions including field proven LALE Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) fixed wing UAVs and mid to high-speed Target Drones. A-tech SYN not only develops and manufactures UAS, Autopilot and key electronic components, but also trains operators and mechanics, provides MRO and even flight services to customers. Internally developed IP, Easy and quick integration of new equipment to the platforms, integration of systems with existing infrastructure, customization of the UAS products to customer requirements and low cost of ownership are some of the key differentiators of A-tech SYN as an independent and highly flexible Company. A-tech SYN’s flagship is a leading VTOL UAV – the CGT50- with superior and bespoke underlying technology. The product is in the LALE segment and has high payload capacity (5Kg) and long endurance (6 hours). The Systems are well known for the low cost of ownership powered by the high rate (%80) of in-House IP. The Role: R&D Design/Mechanical Team Lead Responsibilities:
Coordinate Mechanical R&D Activities: Lead the planning and coordination of all projects involving the mechanical R&D team, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
Mechanical Design and Prototyping of UAVs: Lead the mechanical design and development of next-generation UAVs, including creating functional prototypes, integrating customer-specific payloads, and developing equipment necessary for testing and operation.
Documentation: Ensure design/test/ procedure/production documentation is generated and maintained on the DMS (Document management system).
Issue/fault analysis: To be able as part of a team to debug and identify issues mechanically with the wider team and work on solutions to issues.
Required Skills:
Strong background in mechanical engineering, design, particularly in R&D.
Proficiency in 3D CAD design software, especially Solid Works.
Proficient in the generating 2D drawings and technical documents.
Ability to conduct and interpret structural load and environmental testing.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
DFM (Design for Manufacture); Ability to design and review part designs to be manufacturable efficiently
Ability and experience building functional prototypes for testing and evaluation, with an aim to move to production.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with 3D printing technologies, CNC and composite manufacturing techniques.
Experience with integration of customer-specific payloads into UAVs.
Proven experience in UAV design and development.
Understanding of basic electrical systems and circuits.
Ability to work with cross functional teams.
Working hand on with UAVs, mechanical components,
Ability to use basic hand and electrical engineering equipment, saws, drills, grinders etc.
