Nursing Home Activities Co-ordinator- Castleisland
Windmill Healthcare are currently recruiting for experienced fulltime, permanent Activities Co-ordinator to join our Care Team at our Willow Brooke Care Centre
This role reports to the Director of Nursing / Person in Charge, and works side by side with the Activities Co-ordinator and team. The role of the Activities Assistant at Willow Brooke Care Centre is to assist in the provision of quality care to clients/residents by the provision of a comprehensive activities programme for residents in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and staff.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Organising and maintaining on a daily basis standard activities which include arts and crafts, baking, gardening, flower arranging, newspapers quizzes, card games, bingo, exercise sessions, walks, hand massages, nail care, arranging hairdressing appointments, arranging attendance at mass or other religious services.
Review resident activity assessments on a regular basis or on a needs change basis
Planning and implementing special activities which include (but are not limited to) outings, garden visits, birthday parties, Christmas and other seasonal celebrations.
Drawing up a daily and weekly program of activities.
Greet new arrivals to activities, introducing them to other participants, explaining facility rules, and encouraging their participation.
Establish an open relationship with each resident and encourage each resident to participate
Educate Willow Brooke Care Centre staff to provide resident activities.
Record the attendance of residents at all activities in the house and out of the house in Epi Care using the Therapies notes.
Liaise with local library services in assisting residents selecting and returning library books and or any other facility they provide.
Maintaining daily files and charts for each Resident that provide clear evidence of the activities planned and carried out.
Keeping the nursing staff up to date on Resident's condition
Assisting with the orientation of new Residents to then Care Centre environment
Attend training courses both in-house and at other locations to meet and enhance the service being provided by Willow Brooke Care Centre
Perform escort duties as required
Report any concerns about a resident to the lead nurse in charge
Experience: Essential: Experience in a Nursing Home or Social Care environment. Desirable: Specialist skills in cooking, gardening, knitting, music, arts and crafts
