Manage and maintain SQL Server instances and databases across multiple environments.
Perform installation, configuration, and upgrades of SQL Server databases.
Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures.
Proactively monitor and optimize database performance using diagnostic tools and scripts.
2. Backup and Recovery:
Design, implement, and maintain effective backup and recovery strategies.
Execute scheduled database backups and conduct regular restore testing to validate backup integrity.
Troubleshoot backup issues and ensure robust recovery capabilities.
3. Performance Tuning:
Continuously monitor database performance metrics and identify bottlenecks.
Use advanced performance tuning techniques to optimize queries, indexing, and database configuration.
Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues promptly to maintain high database efficiency.
4. High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR):
Configure, manage, and support SQL Server high availability solutions (e.g., Always On Availability Groups, replication, mirroring).
Implement and maintain disaster recovery plans, including failover procedures.
Regularly test HA/DR solutions to ensure their effectiveness during actual outages.
5. Monitoring and Alerting:
Set up and maintain real-time monitoring tools for database health, performance, and system resources.
Create alerts for system anomalies and respond to incidents swiftly to prevent or mitigate downtime.
Investigate system logs and troubleshoot errors to maintain optimal database health.
6. Security and Compliance:
Ensure that databases comply with organizational security standards and regulatory requirements.
Manage and audit database users, roles, and permissions while enforcing access controls.
Conduct periodic security audits and implement database security best practices to safeguard sensitive data.
7. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
Develop knowledge-sharing resources, such as runbooks, to improve team efficiency.
Mentor junior team members and provide expertise on database-related projects.
8. Incident Management and Support:
Serve as the first point of contact for database-related incidents, troubleshooting, and resolutions.
Provide on-call support as part of a rotational schedule for critical incidents or outages.
Ensure timely and effective resolution of database-related issues to maintain high availability.
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong knowledge of SQL Server database administration (installation, configuration, maintenance).
Expertise in performance tuning and query optimization techniques.
Experience with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions (e.g., Always On, mirroring).
Proficiency in T-SQL scripting for writing and optimizing queries, triggers, and stored procedures.
In-depth understanding of database security principles (roles, permissions, encryption).
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in high-pressure environments.
Ability to work independently, with a proactive approach to managing complex database environments.

Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): SQL Server
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Data Management and Analytics
Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP): Database Administrator
