Job Title: Gatekeeper/Security Guard - Poultry Farm Reporting to: Farm Manager / Farm Owner Job Summary: The Gatekeeper/Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the security of the poultry farm premises. This role involves controlling access to the farm, monitoring the movement of people, vehicles, and materials, and ensuring the biosecurity protocols are strictly followed. The guard also ensures the overall safety of farm assets, equipment, and livestock by preventing unauthorized access and responding to security incidents. Key Responsibilities (KRA): 1. Access Control & Visitor Management
Monitor and control entry and exit points to the farm, ensuring only authorized personnel, visitors, and vehicles are granted access.
Maintain a visitor logbook to record details of all individuals and vehicles entering or leaving the farm premises.
Verify identification, purpose of visit, and ensure visitors comply with farm security and biosecurity protocols.
2. Biosecurity Compliance
Enforce biosecurity protocols, including ensuring that all individuals entering the farm premises undergo proper disinfection procedures (e.g., using foot baths, hand sanitizers).
Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering restricted zones (e.g., bird sheds, feed storage areas).
3. Surveillance & Monitoring
Conduct regular patrols of the farm’s perimeter and key areas, such as poultry sheds, feed mills, and storage areas, to detect any signs of unauthorized access, theft, or damage.
Report any unusual activity, breach of security, or potential threats to farm management immediately.
4. Asset Protection
Ensure the safety of farm assets, including equipment, machinery, vehicles, and livestock, from theft, damage, or sabotage.
Supervise the loading and unloading of materials, feed, or equipment at the farm gate, ensuring proper documentation is checked and verified.
Monitor and restrict access to high-value assets or areas, preventing unauthorized removal of farm property.
5. Emergency Response
Report all incidents to the farm manager and document the details of the event in an incident log.
6. Vehicle Inspection
Inspect incoming and outgoing vehicles to ensure they comply with farm regulations and are free from contaminants that could jeopardize farm biosecurity.
Check vehicle documentation, such as delivery notes, for feed or livestock, to verify the authenticity of the materials being transported.
Inspect delivery vehicles for cleanliness and ensure they undergo disinfection before entering the farm.
7. Record Keeping & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of all individuals, vehicles, and materials entering and leaving the farm.
Ensure all logs (visitor, vehicle, incident) are up-to-date and stored safely for management review.
8. Safety & Health Monitoring
Monitor farm conditions, ensuring that gates, fences, and locks are in good working order and that the surroundings are free from hazards that may pose security risks.
Skills & Qualifications:
basic training in security or safety protocols is an advantage.
Experience: Prior experience in security services, particularly in agricultural or farm settings, is preferred.
Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit to perform patrolling duties and handle potential security threats.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with farm workers, visitors, and management.
Attention to Detail: Strong observational skills to detect suspicious activity or potential security breaches.
Basic Documentation Skills: Ability to maintain accurate logs and records of activities and incidents.
