Job Title: M.Sc. Nursing Tutor Reports to : Head of Department/Principal Job Overview: The M.Sc. Nursing Tutor will provide academic and clinical instruction to undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students. They will prepare lesson plans, deliver lectures, supervise clinical practice, and evaluate students' academic and practical performance. The role involves contributing to the academic and professional development of students and ensuring they acquire the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for the nursing profession. Key Responsibilities: 1.Academic Instruction:
Develop and implement lesson plans for theoretical and practical sessions.
Deliver lectures on specialized nursing topics such as advanced clinical nursing, nursing research, and healthcare management.
Use various teaching methodologies (e.g., case studies, simulations) to facilitate learning.
Prepare course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and examinations.
Guide students in the preparation of dissertations, projects, and research.
2. Clinical Supervision:
Supervise and mentor students during clinical placements.
Assist in the development of clinical skills and practical nursing knowledge.
Evaluate students' clinical performance and provide feedback for improvement.
Collaborate with healthcare facilities to arrange practical experiences for students.
3. Student Mentorship:
Provide academic and career counselling to nursing students.
Monitor student progress and address any academic challenges.
Encourage critical thinking and evidence-based practice in students.
4. Evaluation and Assessment:
Assess student performance through written exams, clinical evaluations, and practical demonstrations.
Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and feedback.
Participate in the development and grading of comprehensive exams for M.Sc. nursing students.
5. Curriculum Development:
Assist in the design and revision of nursing curricula.
Ensure that the teaching materials meets the regulatory requirements of the nursing council or accreditation bodies.
Integrate new teaching technologies and innovative practices into the curriculum.
6. Research and Professional Development:
Maintain departmental records related to student progress, faculty meetings and curriculum changes.
Participate in the preparation of reports of reports for accreditation and other regulatory bodies.
Contribute to the overall functioning of the department by assisting in administrative tasks as assigned by the department head.
Qualification:
M.Sc. in Nursing (in any specialization)from a recognized university.
A valid nursing registration number.
Prior teaching or clinical experience, preferably at a higher education institution.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to mentor and supervise students effectively.
Proficiency in using educational technology and tools.
Desirable Skills:
Experience in curriculum development and research supervision.
Ability to integrate evidence- based practice into teaching.
Expertise in specific areas such as pediatric nursing, psychiatric nursing, or community health nursing.
Work Environment:
Classroom and clinical settings within the university and affiliated healthcare institutions.
