Job Summary: We are looking for a motivated Associate IT Engineerwith Microsoft SQL experienceto support our IT team with the maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of SQL databases and server environments. The role involves performing routine patching, backups, and monitoring tasks for both SQL databases and servers, as well as handling alerts to ensure optimal performance. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of both database management and server administration. Key Responsibilities:
SQL Patching and Server Patching
Assist with applying patches and updates to SQL databases and Windows servers to enhance security, performance, and compliance.
Regularly monitor the status of patch deployments and troubleshoot issues related to patch failures.
Monitor Database and Server Patches
Track the success of applied patches on SQL databases and servers.
Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve any patch-related issues.
SQL Scripts for Database Cleanup
Create and execute SQL scripts to clean up databases and optimize performance.
Document all cleanup processes and ensure minimal impact on live databases during these operations.
SQL Database Backup/Restore
Perform and manage SQL database backups, ensuring data integrity and retention requirements are met.
Server Backup and Restore
Support server backup operations, ensuring complete and timely backups for all critical systems.
Monitor and Correct Alerts (Database and Server)
Monitor system alerts for both SQL databases and servers, such as resource usage, performance issues, failed backups, and security warnings.
Investigate and resolve alerts promptly or escalate complex issues to senior engineers.
Server Performance Monitoring
Monitor server health and performance, ensuring optimal resource usage (CPU, memory, storage) and identifying potential issues before they escalate.
Work on optimizing server performance through proactive maintenance and system tuning.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of SQL Server or other relational database management systems.
Familiarity with Windows Serverenvironment, including basic server administration tasks.
Knowledge of SQL scripting, database performance tuning, and server monitoring tools.
Experience with backup and restoration procedures for both databases and servers.
Strong problem-solving skills with an eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with patch management and system updates in both database and server environments.
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Basic knowledge of networking and security best practices.
Ability to work on multiple platforms (SQL databases, Windows servers).
