As a Medical Records Clerk, you will manage and maintain patient medical records while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with healthcare regulations. This entry-level position is perfect for freshers eager to start their career in healthcare administration. Key Responsibilities:
Create, maintain, and update patient medical records, both electronic and
paper-based.
Call primary care offices to collect medical records for new patients.
Log in to hospital portals and obtain medical records needed for upcoming
appointments.
Contact labs and diagnostic centers to collect records for both new and
existing patients.
Retrieve and prepare medical records for patient appointments,
procedures, and audits.
Ensure all patient information is complete, accurate, and up to date.
File and store medical records according to established protocols and
guidelines.
Respond to requests for medical records from patients, healthcare
providers, and authorized parties.
Ensure the confidentiality and security of all patient data in compliance
with HIPAA regulations.
Assist with scanning, indexing, and archiving medical documents.
Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure the smooth flow of information
and documentation. Skills and Knowledge Required:
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in handling patient information
and records.
Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize
effectively, and maintain a tidy and efficient records system.
Computer Literacy: Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g.,
Microsoft Office) and a willingness to learn medical records software and hospital portals.
Communication Skills: Clear and professional communication, both
written and verbal, to interact with patients, healthcare staff, primary care offices, labs, and diagnostic centers.
Confidentiality and Ethics: Understanding of patient privacy laws and
commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a team
environment.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues related to records
management and work towards effective solutions. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
No prior experience is required; training will be provided.
Familiarity with medical terminology is a plus but not required.
