Electrical AutoCAD Technician / Drafter
Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Electrical Auto CAD Technician with a background in electrical engineering (ITI/Diploma) to create, modify, and manage electrical schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in Auto CAD and an understanding of electrical systems, components, and circuits. This position involves working closely with project engineers and electrical designers to produce high-quality, precise drawings for electrical projects across various industries.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in Auto CAD and an understanding of electrical systems, components, and circuits. This position involves working closely with project engineers and electrical designers to produce high-quality, precise drawings for electrical projects across various industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and Modify Electrical Drawings: Develop detailed electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, circuit layouts, and panel designs using Auto CAD.
- Design and Layout: Assist in the layout of electrical systems, such as power distribution, lighting, control panels, and communication networks.
- Interpretation of Specifications: Understand and interpret electrical plans, specifications, and codes to ensure designs meet project requirements.
- Collaborate with Engineers and Designers: Work closely with project engineers to ensure drawings are accurate and meet design criteria.
- Update Documentation: Revise and update electrical drawings based on engineer feedback and changes during project development.
- Compliance with Standards: Ensure that all electrical drawings comply with relevant codes, standards (such as IEC, NEC, etc.), and company guidelines.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate with other departments (mechanical, civil, etc.) to ensure integration of electrical systems with overall project designs.
- Maintain Drawing Records: Ensure all drawings are properly documented, organized, and maintained for easy retrieval during future projects.
- Site Visits (Optional): Occasionally visit sites to verify installation accuracy, take measurements, or adjust designs based on real-world conditions.
- Educational Background: ITI certification or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
- Auto CAD Proficiency: Strong command of Auto CAD (or similar drafting software) for electrical drawing creation.
- Electrical Knowledge: Basic understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and components, including wiring, switchgear, control panels, lighting systems, and power distribution.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to produce detailed, accurate, and high-quality electrical drawings.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve design challenges, and make necessary revisions to ensure functionality.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and project managers.
- Knowledge of Electrical Standards: Familiarity with relevant electrical standards, such as IEC, NEC, or local regulations.
- Communication: Effective communication skills to interpret instructions and collaborate with the engineering team.
- Experience: Previous experience in electrical drafting is a plus, especially for industrial or commercial projects.
- Familiarity with PLC wiring, panel designs, power distribution systems, or control systems.
- Experience in drafting for sectors such as building services, industrial automation, renewable energy, or electrical infrastructure.
- Knowledge of other CAD tools like EPLAN, Revit (for electrical BIM modeling), or Solid Works Electricalwould be advantageous.
- Certification in Auto CAD Electrical from a recognized institution.
- ITI certification in electrical trades, or any relevant technical diploma.
