Position Description:
We are looking for a strong Data Architect who will work in a multi-domain environment harnessing data to provide valuable impact for the organization. This role will serve as a vital bridge between business applications, data products and data governance teams. The data architect will work closely with technology and functional teams to recommend data structures based on the consumption needs of each business domain. The successful candidate will need to develop intimate knowledge of key business processes and maintain a holistic view across data domains to minimize redundancies and optimize the analytics environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and build of scalable and efficient data architectures that support the collection, storage, transformation, analysis and visualization of large volumes of data.
- Define and implement data modeling standards, ensuring consistency, integrity, and optimization of data structures.
- Develop and maintain processes, standards, policies, guidelines, and governance to ensure that a consistent framework and set of standards is applied across the company.
- Promote data as a product and common data model strategy across the organization.
- Create and maintain conceptual / logical and semantic data models to identify key business entities and visual relationships.
- Maintain a data dictionary consisting of table and column definitions.
- Partner with business stakeholders and product teams to understand their data requirements and translate them into actionable solutions that drive business value.
- Collaborate with data engineers to build and optimize data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and transforming data from various sources.
- Build and review data models with both technical and business audiences.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to members of the data engineering team, building a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, standards and frameworks to enhance our data architecture and ecosystem.
- Ensure compliance with data governance policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices related to data management and security.
- Drive initiatives to improve data quality, accuracy, and reliability through data profiling, cleansing, and validation processes.
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to implement robust data protection mechanisms and ensure the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and developments in data management, analytics, and technology, and assess their potential impact on our data architecture strategy.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience in data architecture, data warehouse/lakehouse/database design, and data modeling.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing complex data architectures using modern technologies such as cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, GCP), big data technologies (e.g. Databricks, Synapse, Snowflake, Big Query), BI platforms (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and distributed computing frameworks (Spark).
- Extensive experience with data warehouses/lake, relational and non-relational databases
- Strong proficiency in data modeling techniques (e.g., Normalized, Denormalized, Data Vault, ER, Dimensional modeling) and data modeling tools.
- Hands-on experience with designing and implementing models that support batch and real time-data pipelines
- Solid understanding of data governance principles, data security best practices, and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues and optimize performance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
- Experience working projects using Agile methodologies
- Certifications in relevant technologies are a plus.
