Job Summary:
The MRI-CT Technician plays a crucial role in the diagnostic imaging department, operating Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) equipment to produce high-quality images for medical diagnosis. This position requires a strong understanding of imaging protocols, patient care, and safety standards. The technician collaborates closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate imaging results.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Prepare patients for MRI and CT scans, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns.
- Monitor patients throughout the imaging process, ensuring comfort and safety.
Equipment Operation
- Operate MRI and CT machines to capture high-resolution images of internal structures.
- Follow established protocols for various imaging studies to ensure quality and accuracy.
-Image Analysis:
- Review images for clarity and completeness before submission to radiologists.
- Ensure proper documentation of imaging results in the patient’s medical records.
Maintenance and Safety:
- Perform routine maintenance on imaging equipment and report any malfunctions or issues.
- Adhere to safety standards, including proper use of protective equipment and protocols for handling contrast materials.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with radiologists and other medical staff to discuss imaging needs and patient history.
- Participate in departmental meetings and continuing education to stay updated on best practices and technological advancements.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- Completion of an accredited MRI and/or CT program is preferred.
Certification:
- Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in MRI and/or CT.
- State licensure as required.
Experience:
- Previous experience as an MRI or CT technician is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with PACS systems and electronic health records.
Skills:
- Strong technical skills in MRI and CT imaging.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to work with diverse patient populations.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions:
- Work in a clinical environment, including patient interaction and potential exposure to radiation.
- May require standing for extended periods and assisting patients with mobility.
- Flexible hours may be necessary, including weekends and on-call shifts.
