About the role
To ensure the efficient running of the Engineering department through achieving budgeted colleague Satisfaction, Guest Satisfaction and GOP results for each area.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Align management style, working practices and conduct with One&Only Kéa Island and Kerzner’s vision, Global Support values, operating standards and policies. To comply with Kerzner’s code of conduct at all times.
Personally build clear and open lines of communication with all departments
Responsible for the property maintenance, assistance with capital projects & works conform to Kerzner International Engineering Standards and Local Government Legislation.
Monitor and control all financial aspects of the business including the preparation of the annual business plan.
Implement and monitor programs to maintain the condition of hotel assets.
Control and supervise the Fire Protection Preventative Maintenance Program. Check all Fire and Engineering safety features to ensure that they are functioning at peak efficiency.
Carry out regular inspections of plant and equipment and ensure that inspections required by Government authorities are conducted and documented.
Manage all external contracts to ensure aligned service is received maximizing efficiencies.
Be well versed and knowledgeable of the hotels Fire Evacuation and all Emergency procedures as well as health and safety requirements in the Workplace. Ensure colleagues are aware of their duty of care as determined by legislation.
Ensure proper records are kept relating to all plant and equipment.
Be innovative with everything you do.
Create an environment that trains, develops, coaches and mentor’s colleagues.
Where required develop policy, formulate direction and strategy.
Conduct weekly SMART Plan review with all direct reports to ensure follows up to achieve the agreed goals & objectives.
Actively participate in sales presentations, property tours and customer meetings.
Drive GSQ action plan follow up on a monthly basis with direct reports.
Conduct monthly walkthrough with Engineering, Housekeeping and DH to ensure action and standards are maintained.
Deliver a monthly report on Key issues, developments, outstanding works, and personal and financial concerns to GM and cc EXCOM.
Directly manager certain departments that have been assigned by GM.
Undertake additional duties as requested by the General Manager of the resort.
Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements
Degree on Electrical (or Mechanical) Engineering
Proven experience of 5 years on maintenance or facility management, ideally in luxury hospitality
Strong electrical and mechanical abilities
Experience in handling electrical systems (MV-LV), automations, security systems, BMS, HVAC, pumping stations, etc.
Excellent spoken and written English
Excellent knowledge of Ms Office & Auto CAD
Proven success working as a leader, still team orientated
Excellent communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills required
Strong decision-making attributes, including working under pressure
