Unser Profil
The Institute for Hearing Technology and Acoustics (https://www.akustik.rwth-aachen.de) at RWTH Aachen University focuses on the physical and technical aspects of sound as well as the human perception and processing of sound. The goal of the Institute for Hearing Technology and Acoustics is to expand interdisciplinary research in the field of sound perception and processing in complex acoustic environments. In addition to other research areas, the Institute is active in the fields of sound generation, propagation and attenuation. In this context, measurement methods and simulation techniques are developed to investigate the physics of complex acoustic scenarios using acoustic virtual reality.
Within the scope of the
Research Training Group 2416 – Multi senses, Multi scales
( DFG, https://www.rtg2416.rwth-aachen.de ) the institute focuses on the perceptual evaluation and cognitive processing of acoustic and audiovisual stimuli. In this context, listening experiments are designed, implemented, tested, and performed to challenge models of cognition and gain a deeper understanding of cognitive processes. The behavioral results of these experiments are complemented by (electro-)physiological measures, such as the electroencephalogram (EEG) to uncover new relationships between bio signals and behavior.
We offer the opportunity to work in a dynamic, highly interdisciplinary team, with extensive technical equipment and training in the state-of-the-art methods of hearing research and acoustics.
