We are seeking a highly motivated R&D Hardware Technician to join our Research & Development team based in Waldbronn Germany. As an R&D Technician, you will be part of a diverse R&D team responsible for developing future laboratory instrumentation within the Agilent Diagnostics and Genomics Group (DGG). This Group develops solutions that include reagents, instruments, software, and consumables, which enables customers in the clinical and life sciences research areas to interrogate samples at the cellular and molecular level. This position would be based out of Waldbronn Germany within the Biomolecular Analysis Division which develops outstanding Automated Electrophoresis and Microfluidic laboratory instrumentation. These devices are used for the automated separation of bio-molecules such as proteins and nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) and is used to resolve identity of a molecule by either size or charge. Responsibilities include:
Work closely with development engineers to build design prototypes and troubleshoot prototypes.
Recommends design or process changes and/or formulate techniques to improve performance, manufacturability, and reusability.
May use CAD hardware and software, CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machines, programming knowledge, sketches, layouts, or notes provided by R&D engineers.
Assist with in-process testing to ensure all requirements are satisfied.
Evaluate and inspect prototypes to ensure design specifications are met.
May also be responsible for media preparation in the research and development area.
Able to support other functions (i.e. manufacturing or quality) in the event of a quality issue investigation.
Qualifications
May require some higher education or specialized training/certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Typically 1-3 years of meaningful experience.
Experience in supporting engineering design and development efforts in new product development environments.
Experience in assembling early-phase prototypes for engineering evaluation.
Able to evaluate prototypes and make design recommendations back to the engineering team.
Good problem-solving skills are a must.
Good German communication skills.

Good organizational skills, particularly regarding record-keeping and computer file organization, and model/drawing revision control.
Experience with 3D parametric CAD modeling software, preferably Siemens NX CAD
