Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of analytical chemistry and chemical biology

The Faculty of Pharmacy invites applications for the position of a

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER in Intracellular Drug Delivery Group (https://www.helsinki.fi/en/researchgroups/intracellular-drug-delivery)

The position is a fixed term position funded by the European Research Council (ERC St G Grant). The appointment will start ASAP and will last 2 years with the possibility of continuation. The position is filled with a 6 month probationary period. The duties of the postdoctoral researcher include conducting research in the project framework, supervision of master students, and other discipline-specific teaching. The teaching duties will cover a maximum of 5 % of the total working hours.

The appointment is led by docent Shiqi Wang, at the Division of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology. The aim of the project is to develop new chemical tools for intracellular drug delivery quantification. The successful candidate is expected to develop and optimize a bioluminescence assay based on bioorthogonal reactions. Your work will contribute to the fundamental understanding of how nanomedicine enable protein/genes delivery, which is of great importance for future development of novel biotherapeutics.

We expect

Ph D degree in a relevant field (e.g., analytical chemistry, chemical biology, physical chemistry)
Strong expertise in metabolite analysis by liquid chromatography or another relevant techniques
Experience in reaction kinetics and mechanisms studies
Fluent communication (oral and written) skills in English
Curiosity, genuine interest in science, initiative
Ability to work both independently and in a team

We also highly appreciate experience in

High-throughput screening assay development
Mammalian cell culture and transfection
Bioorthogonal chemistry

Salary and benefits

The salary is based on the job requirement scheme for teaching and research staff according to the salary system of the Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a personal salary component. The starting salary of a postdoctoral researcher is typically about 3 500 EUR per month, depending on the appointee's qualifications and experience.
