Why this role? To support the growth of the company, we are now looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Software Engineering team based in our headquarters in Espoo, Finland. Precisely, you will be part of our customer-facing domain organisation, and will be responsible for delivering the software products allowing our customers to control, operate and task our fleet of satellites. As an Engineering Manager you will lead our software developers and engineering teams, you will report to the domain Director and work as a member of the Software Engineering leadership group. This is a key role for our organization as we prepare for more growth. Your experience in empowering high-performance teams in a distributed environment is essential.
What will you do? Technical Leadership & Execution:
Ensure the team has the technical capabilities (and capacity) to meet with business and product objectives.
Manage resource allocation, and technical deliverables.
Ensure the technical feasibility of product features and that they are built in a scalable and maintainable way.
Manage the engineering team, focusing on code quality, system architecture, and overall technical health.
Balance the technical workload and monitor team performance and capacity
Team & People Management:
Hire, grow and retain engineering talents.
Set individual expectations, conduct performance reviews and foster career growth among team members.
Build and maintain a high-performing engineering culture, promoting trust, collaboration, and innovation.
Implement and optimize engineering processes, ensuring efficient workflow.
Collaboration & coordination:
Work closely with your Product Manager counterparts to understand product requirements and ensure technical feasibility
Communicate technical constraints, trade-offs and level of opportunity/ cost to the Product Manager and other stakeholders
Coordinate with other engineering teams to ensure clear system boundaries, integration and coherence.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience leading software development teams
Background and strong skills in software product development
Excellent leadership skills and servant leader mentality
Track record of hiring and developing great engineers in various stages of their career
Strong communication and collaboration skills that help you in creating and maintaining strong relationships across the ICEYE organization
Experienced in working in multi-site development organizations

Base salary range for this position is 7500-8500€ per month (gross) contingent on your experience level, and will be negotiated individually.
