The MEA Customs Leader will work with the Customs and Compliance team to secure the efficiency, competence and compliance of the import and export activities for Grid Solutions within MEA region and secures the collaboration and integration of the operations with individual country operations within the region (main countries KSA, UAE, Turkey, Egypt, Senegal others)
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities: Import/Export and Special Program
Oversee and support Import/Export activities, review the customs processes, implement & update the SOPs between agent and business.
Manage gathering, apply and monitor Import License requirements with the business.
Ensure the pre-declaration review is performed including confirmation that valuation, classification, country of origin and any applicable special program documentation is complete before an import or export occurs
Supervise & defend key projects to improve customs processes between destinations.
Review, Modify & Implement strategy for Customs operations in the region, aligned with Grid Customs organization and Customs Enterprise Standard
Know your region and keep up to date Customs landscape
Identify Customs risks areas with support of Customs Compliance and develop actionable plans and procedures to mitigate those risks
Manage special programs opportunities linked to exemption/reduction/suspension of customs taxes
Customs Authorities, Agents, BPOs:
Manage the relationship with Local Customs authorities and support with internal and external audits/consultations
Work with approved agents to support daily customs clearances and own shipment issue resolution
Manage operational and tactical agent performance, Participate in Business operations reviews with agents to address their areas of concern.
Ensure there are trained personnel supporting the Customs activities in the region
Metrics:
Prepare periodic reports and metrics on primary KPIs (volume, cycle time, FPY, duty spend, entered value) quality, costs, opportunities, risks, achievements
Gather customs data into the applicable business tools
Own performance review with businesses to implement the improvements and align on savings opportunities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or Higher Diploma from accredited university
Demonstrated knowledge of import/export regulation in multiple countries within the Middle East & /OR North Africa region.
Substantial experience in Customs processes
Languages MEA: English & Arabic
