Ambitious Space Company is looking for a Software Engineer for Spacecraft Integration.
At Gom Space, we are committed to make space accessible, affordable and useful.
We are an agenda-setting player in the small satellite business and our highly skilled team is committed, dedicated and accountable. We are ambitious and believe that small satellites and our efforts, multidisciplinary skills and passion will help our partners achieve their goals in space and make a difference to the society.
Since 2007, Gom Space has designed and supplied satellites to customers across more than 60 countries worldwide. That has been possible only because of a dedication to technology innovation and the 170 highly skilled employees, who potentially can become your new colleagues.
About the job As Software Engineer, you will become part of the Programs Business Unit that works with projects and missions for clients in the space industry, commercial entities, government bodies and defense organizations across the globe. In our team of currently eight SW engineers, we work closely with system engineers, project managers and other SW engineers in Gom Space to configure, integrate, test and verify the satellite subsystems (all of which have an embedded computer) and the satellite as a whole. Projects typically span 10-20 months and you will be part of 1-2 projects at a time. The work involves
Satellite subsystem "driver" development, possibly with 3rd party satellite components.
Developing or extending system test cases in Python. You will also need to read a lot of existing C and Python code in order to debug and identify issues.
Coding spanning HW drivers, protocols, control systems, applications, unit/system tests and Dev Ops tasks.
Working with the ground stations that communicate with the satellites: set them up, configure, and operate them - and possibly also develop new code for them.
A continuous focus on optimization of the integration process, manuals and collaboration with other departments in Gom Space.
The team works on Linux workstations, using Git, Python, Pytest, C, Docker, Jenkins, and many other tools and technologies. The team works agile and conducts informal code reviews to improve code quality. In our team, our culture is to learn from and help one another, while having fun working in a domain we’re all deeply committed to. This position is based in Denmark. Travel activity may occur and will be limited to a maximum of 15 days per year. We welcome international applicants. Your profile You will be good match to the team and the position if you can tick most of the following boxes:
Love to work with computers and systems
Are motivated and eager to learn and work in many different areas of software development
Like to understand the whole system and how the components interact
Have experience in C, Python and embedded programming
We imagine that your educational background is in engineering; systems, software, control, or similar - but an interest in the space domain and a willingness to learn is far more important than formal education. As a person, you are curious and interested in solving challenges in an environment where two days are rarely alike. We welcome both fresh or recent graduates as well as more experienced candidates - your attitude and interest in helping your team succeed are what’s valued. Perhaps you have worked with software engineering in another complex environment such as defense, telecom, security, or the like.
JOIN OUR MISSION You are welcome to send your application in English. Interviews will be conducted on a continuous basis. If you have any questions with regard to the position do not hesitate to contact Head of Delivery Engineering Martin Holten on +45 40420978 or maho@gomspace.com
Workplace will be at our premises at Langagervej 6, Aalborg, Denmark. Salary and start date will be individually negotiated.
