Role Summary
The Analytics & Insights team plays a key role in driving data-driven decision-making at Splunk by developing, maintaining, and publishing Tableau dashboards across the organization. We're seeking a talented BI Engineer / Tableau Developer to join our team and our Business Metrics initiative. This initiative focuses on measuring and reporting on key areas such as projects, capabilities, and mission team performances. By providing actionable insights, you'll empower business leaders to make informed decisions and turn data into impactful outcomes.
What you'll get to do
- Designing and maintaining well designed, intuitive, and interactive dashboards using Tableau
- Collaborating with analysts and data engineers to determine required data for supporting key metrics and addressing any data availability gaps
- Developing and upholding standards for Tableau usage across the organization
- Working closely with mission teams, subject matter experts, and colleagues to define and document metrics, reporting, and visualization needs
- Effectively communicating with executive audiences using a customer-focused approach in both verbal and written formats
Must-have Qualifications
- Proven experience in publishing and managing reports, dashboards, and data sources on Tableau Server
- Skilled in advanced data manipulation techniques in Tableau, including blending, joining, table calculations, and leveraging shared data sources
- Strong SQL skills to be used in exploring and analyzing data in a Snowflake data warehouse
- In-depth understanding of testing methodologies to ensure dashboard functionality, data integrity, and performance optimization
- Excellent collaboration skills, working effectively with stakeholders and teams across the organization to achieve common goals

- Familiarity with dbt (Data Build Tool) for transforming data within the data warehouse
- Ability to work with version control systems like Git alongside dbt to manage changes to data transformations
- Some Python experience for data manipulation, automation, and advanced analytics
- Experience with Agile processes, specifically Scrum
