Job Description The Nova Scotia SPCA College of Animal Welfare is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician or experienced Veterinary Assistant to join us as a Veterinary Education Instructor to teach and inspire the next generation of Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians! This amazing opportunity to share knowledge and experience would be perfectly suited for someone with an interest in education, experience in animal care, and a passion for working with animals as well as people. The Veterinary Education Instructor works as a part of the faculty team to deliver an established curriculum and provide a high-quality and interactive education experience at the College of Animal Welfare. While we are looking to fill this position in a full-time capacity, we are also considering qualified applicants that are interested in exploring this position as a part-time opportunity. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver established curriculum in classroom and hands-on settings
Participate in development and research for the program and curriculum
Ensure all students are being educated in accordance with program policies
Evaluate individual students in a constructive manner, provide feedback and serve students equitably
Effective classroom management
Maintain student academic records
Help to organize guest speaker and field trips for students in the program
Develop and/or modify lectures, presentations, labs, and lesson plans as necessary
Collaborate with faculty team with ongoing projects and program development
Seek out continuing education opportunities related to delivering curriculum, adult education, advances in veterinary medicine and related fields.
Qualifications
5 years minimum of practical experience as a RVT or VA
Applicants must be in good standing with provincial regulatory associations
Experience training and mentoring others in an education or workplace setting
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including giving presentations
Enthusiasm for teaching and education
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Power Point
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Collaborative attitude in working with others
Experience in customer service would be considered an asset, especially in an animal care setting
