Lotus Group is thrilled to partner with a market leader that provides equipment, solutions, and service to the fuel and lubricant sector to identify a full-time Area Manager based out of the Yukon. Headquartered in Edmonton, our partner is a reputable player for over three decades in Western Canada and Alaska. The Area Manager will oversee all functions at the Yukon branch in coordination with the Edmonton Head Office, including distribution, warehousing, and supervision of all sales. They will ensure adherence to all safety, organizational, and legislative policies, and procedures, while being accountable for all inbound and outbound freight. The successful candidate will work and build credibility with all internal and external stakeholders and is a confident communicator. Critical to this role is someone who exhibits leadership and decision-making abilities. They can resolve internal technical issues that may arise, as well as work with clients to problem-solve and come up with solutions that exceed expectations. Role Requirements:
5+ years in a Senior Management role involving management and/or supervisory experience
Post-Secondary Degree in Business Management is preferred
High School Diploma is required
Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and e-mail is required
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Class 1 or Class 3 drivers license is an asset
Knowledge and experience working in transportation and/or with major fuel providers is an asset
Role Responsibilities:
Direct and the daily branch operations, including managing staff and assigning duties.
Maintain open lines of communication between Head Office and branch.
Develop internal team to fulfill Client requirements and respond to any concerns or complaints.
Research and stay abreast of trends to determine Client demand to potentially increase volumes.
Recruit and train staff with assistance from Human Resources & Safety Department.
Responsible for orientation of new hires on the basics of the facility and explain the training schedule.
Train employees on the importance of safe work practices including proper use of equipment, WHMIS procedures, and cleaning guidelines.
Create and maintain employee schedules and review /approve timecards
Oversee employee schedules to ensure shift coverage while maximizing workload distribution
Submit bi-weekly payroll info (payroll changes, new hires, timecards, and terminations) to Human Resources/Director if approvals are required.
Monitor staff performance and complete employee performance reviews for branch.
Carry out and enforce progressive discipline policy with counselling sessions and written warnings as needed.
In conjunction with Management, conduct suspension and termination meetings.
Provide various reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Enforce company policies and procedures and follow all regulatory requirements from governing legislation.
Review and preserve inventory procedures and proper stocking while identifying and acting on any discrepancies between inventory records.
Perform fuel audits and respond to maintenance needs.
Deliver feedback regarding customer opinions, usage trends, and other important information.
Maintain the building, property, and equipment of the camp.
Dispatch fuel trucks while dispatch is off shift.
Comply with and enforce all health and safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Maintain a safe working environment by developing and/or implementing corporate policies regarding security and safety.
Attend and/or lead weekly safety meetings.
In the event of an accident or near miss, create incident reports.
Communicate to appropriate parties any variances or delays in inbound/outbound freight.
Review, maintain, and adjust fuel levels inventories in area to be within minimum and maximum criteria.
Facilitate and manage lease operator relationships.
Acquire all legislated permits are acquired and kept in good standing.
Participate in budget planning for forecasting, volume, revenue, and truck utilization.
Report and assist in troubleshooting equipment assigned to branch and area including cardlocks and product delivery equipment
Perform internal and external sales of company services
Provide weekly reports on sales, customer trends, or complaints.
Conduct inspections of Cardlock / Tank Farm and schedule any maintenance or repairs as required
Assist with Fuel / Lubricant deliveries when required.
Assist with daily operations / coverage when required
Some overtime and after hours’ work may be required outside of the usual Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. hours of work.
Travel to various customer premises or worksites and may be required.
Other duties and special projects as required
