The Traffic & Shipping Coordinator will be responsible for all the outbound shipping and inbound landing related activities. Attention to detail, co-ordination, organization and effective time management are extremely important for this position. Duties & Responsibilities to include (but not limited to):
Determine method of shipments, utilize knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates
Prepare all outgoing shipments as per Vecima Standards and Trade Compliance requirements
Prepare all outgoing shipping documents properly and maintain the records/files
Accurately record weight, dimensions and number of packages for all outbound shipments
Declare the Exports at the Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED), as required
Affix shipping labels and the necessary documents as well as scan all packed shipments for accuracy
Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet national and international standards/quality
Work with freight service providers, including 3PL, to arrange daily pick-ups on time
Meet the daily shipping targets as determined by the Sales Operations and Production Manager, R&D etc.
Assist truck drivers with loading outbound shipments
Assist Vecima customers in freight related matters
Monitor all outbound deliveries and take necessary actions to ensure delays are avoided when possible
Use a variety of both internal and 3rd party software and database programs (including but not limited to Fed Ex Ship Manager, UPS Worldship, etc.)
Ensure the safe operation of tier-lift truck and/or forklifts to load, unload, move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area
Follow safety precautions and guidelines when working with hazardous materials, heavy loads, electrical circuits, equipment, etc.
Conform to Electrostatic Discharge Control (ESD) (technically since everything brought to shipping should be already packaged, we do NOT have ESD requirements in the loading bay.
Ensure ISO standards, including the Vecima Workmanship Standard are being followed
Work as part of a team to constantly improve performance, productivity, and quality
Represent the company with a positive manner in all interactions
Assist with other duties as required
Position Requirements:
Typically requires a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in shipping logistics, both domestic and international
Grade 12 is required; Education in both domestic and international shipping procedures preferred
Basic computer skills - ability to work with excel sheets and create shipping documents; work with word documents to update and create work instructions
