Temporary Farm Technician

Attention job seekers! We are now recruiting candidates for Temporary Farm Technician positions at our Bays East farm sites on the South Coast of Newfoundland. If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to be a part of the Aquaculture industry, then come join our Saltwater Team at Mowi Canada East Inc.! Positions are anticipated to be approximately 12 weeks in duration and are unionized as part of the FFAW (Fish, Food & Allied Workers).
In this temp role you will report to the Farm Manager and provide temporary support to the farm site through general husbandry. This includes, feeding fish, fish health and welfare, fish transfers and treatments, sampling, sea lice reporting, assisting with grid and net installation and repair, site maintenance, site security, fish monitoring and inspection, boat handling around the farm, and all other general farm tasks to keep the farm running successfully.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidates would be safety oriented and willing to work in a team environment with a passion for the industry. They would have:

Related education or experience within the industry
Marine related training (MED, PCOC, SVOP, ROC-MC and Crane training) considered an asset
Respect for the need for safe working practices and animal welfare
Physical capability to complete repetitive tasks and handle material up to 25kg
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Ability to work safely and effectively in challenging outdoor weather
Comfortable working in remote locations, outside, and on the water
Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job
Ability to work a 7 day on, 7 day off shift (accommodations not provided)
Legal eligibility to work in Canada
