About the Role
Reporting to the Lab Manager, this role is responsible to support laboratory testing, data management, sampling, record keeping, and laboratory maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow daily tasks assigned by leader/coordinator.
- Perform experiments accurately following SOPs, to meet project deliverables and timelines.
- Accurate data entry into data management software and data recording.
- Notifies leader of test variances or equipment issues requiring troubleshooting.
- Suggests changes to and revises SOPs as approved by leader/coordinator.
- Receives samples and/or supplies.
- Equipment maintenance and monitoring.
- Logs information in lab book /form and performs internal reviews of lab books/forms.
- Performs all work in a safe manner and ensures work areas are clean after use .
- Ensures consumables, chemicals and samples are well organized and tracked according to the designated method for their area.

Day to day tasks may include, depending on the area of work:
- Internal testing for parameters using basic chemistry testing such as alkalinity, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, hardness, sulphate, sulphide, ATP, and COD as per SOPs
- Entry of data into databases
- Other related duties as required.
About You
- Diploma in Bioscience or Chemical Technology;
- Strong organizational and communication skills, problem solving, and ability to work with confidential documents;
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues;
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite;
- Excellent written and oral communication;
- Experience with scientific record keeping, use of laboratory and testing equipment.
