Position Overview: As a Summer Student at EBT, you will immerse yourself in the world of public practice accounting. Your primary responsibility will be to work on client files and carry out compilation engagements. With hands-on experience and guidance from seasoned veterans of the industry, you will take steps towards becoming a Chartered Professional Accountant and gain an understanding of how rewarding a career in public practice can be. Key Responsibilities: · Prepare compilation engagements while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism · Collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals (mentors, summer buddy, CPAs, Principals) · Perform bookkeeping procedures including reconciliation of accounts, payables, and receivables · Prepare Goods and Services Tax returns · Prepare corporate tax returns for small entities including reconciliation of accounting income to taxable income, and all related schedules · Prepare General Index Financial Information as part of tax return · Create and record adjusting journal entries for compilation engagements · Sundry duties as assigned Key Skills and Qualifications: · Currently in your second, third or fourth year of a university degree with a major in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field, with an anticipated convocation year of 2026-2028 · Desire to obtain a CPA designation · Demonstrates mature and professional conduct · A basic understanding of accounting principles and practices – must have completed an Introduction to Accounting course prior to the summer term beginning · Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills · Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment · Motivated to produce high quality work · Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate clearly What We Offer: · A genuine opportunity for hands-on experience in public practice accounting · Mentorship from experienced professionals · An inclusive and dynamic work environment · Opportunities for networking and future employment (we are proud to have a strong return rate of our summer students year over year) Interested candidates should apply to this posting.
