Job Overview
Spruce Bough continues to house some of the most vulnerable members of the Yellowknife community, offering permanent supportive housing - tenancy is not time limited, and there is no expectation of graduation. Differing from transitional housing, this program offers a long-term solution for people with complex needs who cannot live independently for a variety of reasons. Each Spruce Bough resident has a unique life history, yet there are shared experiences of chronic homelessness, complex and overlapping needs, and struggles with high housing costs in Yellowknife. All supports at Spruce Bough are provided using a person-centred approach, with a commitment to being compassionate, non-judgmental, and reducing potential harms. The position is based in Yellowknife, NWT.
Responsibilities
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
Work Location: In person

Responsibilities
- Assists with general duties at the Spruce Bough facility.
- Assists with completion of electronic and written record-keeping activities, including recording client working hours, invoices, receipts, incident reports and data entry of statistical records.
- Performs any related duties essential to the successful operations of the Spruce Bough program.
- Enthusiasm about making positive change in the world, and a solution-oriented approach with a health sense of humor.
- Strong oral and written communications skills, as well as computer literacy in Word and Excel.
- The ability to work independently and to motivate others, to cope with crisis situations, and to work flexible hours in a changing environment.
- Able to write, type, read a computer screen and printed documents and use a cell phone.
- Able to communicate well with staff and to engage clients in the program to be motivated.
- First Aid training (up to date).
- Immunizations (up to date).
- Training in conflict resolution, mental health first aid, verbal judo, and suicide intervention.
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
