Position Overview: Opera on the Avalon is seeking a highly motivated and organized Special Projects Coordinator to support the planning, coordination, and execution of its artistic projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in arts administration and project management, with an aptitude for working in a collaborative, creative environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth execution of the project’s artistic and logistical elements, facilitating effective communication between artists, staff, and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the planning and execution of all artistic components related to the project. Coordinate logistical elements, including scheduling, artist communications, and production timelines. Work closely with artists, artistic teams, and production staff to support the development of creative content. Manage project documentation, including contracts, schedules, and reporting materials. Ensure timely and effective communication with all project stakeholders, addressing issues and resolving challenges as they arise. Facilitate the creation and distribution of promotional and program materials in collaboration with the marketing team. Support the Artistic Director and senior management in strategic planning and project development as needed. Skills & Qualifications Required: Proven experience in project management, arts administration, or a similar role within the arts and culture, or not-for-profit sectors. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with artists, staff, and community partners. Creative problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace and project management software. A degree or diploma in arts administration, project management, or a related field is preferred. Working Conditions: This is a full-time position (52-week contract) based in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
