Your Opportunity at SECURE Energy The Short Haul Driver is responsible for conducting vehicle maintenance and inspections, provide excellent customer service, loading and unloading waste, and ensuring timely operations. Additionally, they adhere to safety protocols and regulations, and effectively resolve any issues that arise during transit. Work Environment The role of Short Haul Driver is structured as a full-time position, working 5 days a week, with the potential for overtime depending on role requirements and deadlines. Safely Operate Equipment: Safely operate roll-off hook truck and trailer, moffet truck and trailer ensuring the load is always properly secured and within legal load limits, in diverse weather and challenging work site environments.
Compliance & Inspection: Comply with all site and jurisdiction traffic safety legislation, inspect transport units and loads (pre-trip and post-trip) to ensure safe operations required by jurisdiction and/or NSC standards, and ensure all labels are completed in full, including shipping name, generator name, approval number, TDG Class, UN number, packing group number, load number, etc.
Documentation & Reporting: Complete and submit all required documentation on a timely basis, including logbooks, equipment inspection reports, time tickets, manifests, trip records, fuel, and credit card receipts, attend and participate in SECURE Energy safety meetings, and complete all required daily safety paperwork.
Safety Procedures: Abide by all SECURE Energy and customer specific safety policies and procedures.
Communication: Communicate effectively daily with Dispatch to maximize customer needs and SECURE Energy efficiencies.
Preventative Maintenance: Complete minor preventative maintenance such as greasing, air filter checks, brake adjustments, and settings, and inspect all waste material to ensure compliance with manifest, recycle docket, and bill of lading descriptions.
Skills, Experience, & Qualifications
Minimum three years of driving experience in the transportation industry.
Solid knowledge base with respect to hours of service, load securement and driving regulations.
Solid understanding of Canadian geography, highway systems and remote oilfield locations.
Solid understand of TDG, specially placarding and manifest completion.
Prior experience in roll-off, bed truck, or winch tractor is required.
Class 1 driver certification.
Must have clean drivers abstract.
Must be able to work varied shifts with uncertain start and finish times.
