Scale House Operator
THE JOB
We are urgently seeking dedicated Scale Operators to join our landfill team. In this role, you'll be responsible for weighing and inspecting vehicles entering the landfill, identifying vehicle contents, and calculating appropriate disposal fees. You’ll also inspect loads for hazardous waste, provide guidance on proper procedures, and answer customer inquiries about landfill use, recycling, and fees. Additionally, you’ll direct vehicles to proper dumping areas, including composting, yard waste, and hazardous waste disposal zones. To be considered for this position, candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, with prior exposure to similar work environments considered an asset. You must be able to follow verbal and written instructions, perform basic math to calculate fees, and accurately record scale readings. Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with MS Excel and Outlook, is necessary, although training will be provided on specific scale house software. Additionally, you must establish and maintain effective working relationships with both coworkers and the general public, as well as handle interactions with the public, contractors, and suppliers in a courteous and professional manner.

- Part-time hours: Fridays 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Saturdays 7:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
