The Maintenance Tradesperson will maintain and install electrical systems and equipment, construct structures, furnishings, equipment or install building plumbing systems depending on qualifications. Duties included but are not limited to:
Maintaining, repairing and installing electrical systems and lighting;
Maintaining and repairing emergency power systems, generator, transfer switches, emergency lighting;
Checking emergency auxiliary power generation systems and storage batteries;
Performing electrical/electronic and mechanical repairs to medical and other equipment, telephone and data, fire alarm system and CCTV;
Looks after the day-to-day maintenance in all areas of the facility;
Maintaining records of material and time devoted to work assignments;
Referring to blueprints and specifications;
Assisting in the development of construction and work plans;
Repairs or door/window hardware, outside structures, lock sets, counter tops;
Installing wall mounted fixtures, curtain rods, shower rods, blinds, pictures, art work and clocks;
Clearing blocked sewer lines;
Installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing equipment, fixtures and potable water lines;
Performing housekeeping of workspaces;
Performing scheduled preventative maintenance and recording the results appropriately;
Supervising 1 or more staff while performing a specific job as required;
Adhering to safe work practices, following Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and applicable safety codes;
Obtaining supplies as required;
Performing other related duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of Grade 12.
Hold a valid "Apprenticeship Completion Certificate" for the Electrical Trade with Interprovincial Red Seal as issued and recognized by the Prince Edward Island Department of Education under the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualification Act OR hold a valid “Certificate of Qualification” as issued by the Province of Prince Edward Island in Carpentry OR hold a valid “Certificate of Qualification” as issued by the Province of Prince Edward Island in Plumbing.
Considerable experience in the area of job assignment.
Capable of sustained physical activity.
Hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
A good previous work and attendance records.
Other Qualifications:
Electrical/Mechanical experience would be an asset
