Maintenance Helper

The Role:
Acadian Seaplants Limited Cornwallis, NS plant is growing, and we are hiring multiple Maintenance Helpers to meet the demand!
As an ideal candidate, you are hardworking, dependable, and flexible. You will work as part of the maintenance team, helping with mechanical maintenance, building maintenance and other related work in and around the facility. You will often work as part of a team but will routinely perform work independently, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety. You must be a self-starter, taking initiative to complete tasks when working unsupervised. This position may include work on nights or weekends.
More specifically, you will:
  • Assist in daily maintenance activities and installation of new equipment.
  • Do building repairs, including carpentry, painting, plumbing and site cleanup work.
  • Fill out work order for all work completed.
  • Support the company’s vision and policies regarding Health & Safety, Corporate Culture, and Environmental Management.
  • Undertake other duties and tasks as required.
Qualifications:
We are looking for the following in the ideal candidate:
  • Hands-on experience with general mechanical work.
  • Experience doing building repair work, including carpentry, plumbing and painting.
  • Experienced working with basic hand and power tools.
  • Pays high attention to safety.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills allowing one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Work is frequently done using mobile lift equipment and is occasionally done in confined spaces; must have training, or be willing to be trained in Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform and Confined Space.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, have dependable transportation, and be punctual.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
