Summary:
Under the direction of the Project Team Lead, the Labourer is responsible for any manual labour tasks to support the operations on any Fort Mc Kay Group of Companies assigned project or joint venture. Working with a crew, the Project Labourer is required to work collaboratively with other Labourers and provide support to the Equipment Operators as needed. This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.
Key Focuses:
- Assist with general maintenance, upkeeping, cleaning, labour tasks and/or duties as needed at the office, yard, or on a project worksite.
- Assist and perform delegated tasks including transportation of good and/or materials, parts pick-ups, shuttling employees from worksites, basic maintenance of vehicles, or clean-up.
- Act as a spotter for vehicle or equipment moves if necessary.
- Operate a skid steer to support operations as required; may be trained on a skid steer as required.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, provide suggestions for improvement and safety.
- Advise Team Lead or Shift Supervisor of any required maintenance or repairs of the equipment.
- Maintain a safe disposition at all times, ensure the safety of the client site and more importantly, the safety of fellow personnel/drivers. Freeze the scene of any potential or actual incident.
- Comply with all policies, procedures, and requirements as laid out by the client at all times while on the worksite.
- Perform any related and/or additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required
- Retention of a valid class five (5) driver’s license is required
- Satisfactory 3 year Drivers Abstract is required
- Any construction industry experience located on a project site is preferred, with relevant experience in a production environment relating to Mining, Civil Construction, and Heavy Equipment Operation
- CSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO is required
- Focus oriented, with a strong attention to detail
- Able to accept direction without question, a positive attitude, and able to work in a team environment
- Physically fit with the stamina to perform physically demanding tasks
- Ability to speak, write and read English is required
This is a temporary full-time position located north of Fort Mc Murray, AB, on the Kearl Oil Sands Site.
Work schedule is 14 days on, 7 days off; days and nights. 11.5 hour shift.
Camp and flights available from Edmonton and Calgary ONLY.
